Sexy Steak of Detroit : Part 3 and The Grand Finale of Our Detroit Date Night If you’ve been following along, you know our Detroit date night unfolded perfectly. 1. Part 1 was the dreamy, Candlelit concert at Christ Church Detroit— a romantic, intimate, and mesmerizing string quartet performance. Kylee Wilson Media 2. Hands down the best dining experience of my life, and I've been lucky enough to have dined everywhere from the Caribbean to Europe and everywhere in between. Enter: Sexy Steak Detroit. First Impression: As soon as you step inside you see it — that iconic neon sign glowing confidently: “Detroit, you’re so sexy.” It sets the tone and sums up what you're about to experience perfectly. The space feels upscale but comfortable. Sexy but not intimidating. Moody lighting, stunning decor, and an atmosphere that feels intentional — like you’re about to have a moment, not just a meal. This wasn’t just dinner. This was an experience. And then… the cocktails arrive. OMG the cocktails. These cocktails ruined all other cocktails for me. Mouthwatering, well balanced and layered with flavors. These cocktails were the definition of "crafted cocktails." Thoughtfully designed with the freshest ingredients blended to perfection. I ordered the Sophia Loren , and I swear I could taste every single layer — fresh-pressed grapefruit, lemon juice and a hint of cranberry perfectly balanced and bold. Nothing artificial, it was pure. Nothing masked. Just done absolutely right. Kyle ordered their Margarita Italia. Tequila, fresh citrus, agave, mint leaves... omg every flavor was perfection. And it arrived to our table literally on fire. Yes. On. Fire. 🔥 Kylee Wilson Media Now here’s the thing: I don't drink margaritas. I don’t even like tequila. But this? This margarita changed my mind. It was smooth, flavorful, fresh and genuinely the first tequila drink I’ve ever enjoyed. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd enjoy a margarita. Well, this was the day. Then came dinner. The Steak: I’m Ruined Forever. Wow. Just wow. I ordered the filet mignon . Kyle went with the New York strip . We shared the best carrots I've ever had. And the truffle fries? Well obviously. They're truffle fries. You can't go wrong. But these were the best. I don’t eat at high-end restaurants every day, but lately I’ve been intentionally trying new, elevated dining experiences. Service That Felt Thoughtful and Sincere. Our server- Henry , deserves his very own paragraph in this short story... I'm not gonna lie I expected stiff, formal fine-dining energy — and instead, we got someone fun, warm, down-to-earth, and genuinely fun to talk to. He knew the menu, helped us pick the perfect combination of items, matched our energy, and made the night feel relaxed while still elevated which is rare. Henry, if you’re reading this — you were fantastic. The Knife, the Souvenir, and the Ink Pen Incident If you know Kyle, you know that everywhere we travel he tries to get a souvenir. Not the kind you can buy at the souvenir shop. Something random. Sometimes it’s normal. Sometimes… it’s not. Sexy Steak has custom steak knives that are engraved with “You’re so sexy.”  Kyle immediately noticed and I knew he wanted one. We joked with Henry that we were going to steal it (we would never , relax 😅). Henry informed us that you could actually buy them— they come in a fancy box. Sold. We bought the knife. Like responsible adults. Now… full disclosure — when Henry left the check at the table for us, we paid our bill and left a generous tip for the amazing service. But Kyle did swipe the damn ink pen.😩 He really hoped Henry would notice later and have a good laugh. So Henry… if you’re missing a pen — I’m sorry 😂 We do not condone stealing. We do  condone great service and great humor. And I hope it makes Henry remember us like we remember him. The Bathroom Deserves a Standing Ovation Yes, the bathroom. Let’s talk about the women’s restroom for a second, because… what?! It was frickin’ sexy . My mentor Didi always tells us we have bathrooms that are too sexy and that's why wedding guests spend too much time in there. Now I see the concern. Took a bathroom selfie and immediately thought of her. She might be onto something. I mean look at this.. I've seen this mouth art above the red bathtub all over social media. And it was so much cooler in person. I could've stayed a while longer just to hang out. I kinda wished I had my makeup so I had an excuse to linger. Anyhow, It was the most fun pee break I’ve ever had. That’s exactly how our stay at The Cochrane House Bed & Breakfast in Detroit, Michigan  felt. Yes, this historic home is absolutely gorgeous. But it's also warm, thoughtful, welcoming, and incredibly special. The Cochrane House was Part 2 of 3 of the birthday trip to Detroit, Michigan my husband planned for me, and once again he absolutely nailed it. A Warm Welcome Before We Even Knocked I don’t know how our incredible host knew we had pulled up, but as soon as we arrived, the front door opened and we were greeted immediately as if we were longtime friends. It caught me off guard in the best way. That small moment alone made me feel like family, not just a customer. It wasn’t stiff or formal — it was warm, genuine, and personal. Right away, I could feel that this place was different from any other bed and breakfast I've been to before. The Perfect Location for a Detroit Getaway The Cochrane House in Detroit, Michigan is perfectly located — within walking distance of Comerica Park , Ford Field , and the theater district. It’s tucked into the city in a way that feels peaceful and intimate, yet you’re just steps away from everything Detroit has to offer. The rich leather sofa in our room, the thick texture of the huge canvas ottoman and the most comfortable bed perfectly centered in the room. The artwork throughout the house makes a beautiful statement—powerful pieces rooted in Black heritage, woven beautifully into the space in a way that felt authentic and celebratory, not performative. It felt warm. It felt proud. It felt alive. The art told stories and added depth. It made the house feel meaningful, not just beautiful. Small Details That Make a Big Impact The Cochrane House has just three guest rooms, which makes for an intimate and personal experience as if you're staying over at a friends house. It's also a perfect intimate Detroit wedding venue. Breakfast is homemade and delivered to your room. I felt like I should've helped them with the cleanup! That's the affect this place has on you when you feel like a guest instead of a customer. It was all in the details — the ones I wasn't expecting — that made this stay unforgettable. Let’s Talk About That Breakfast… I don’t say this lightly... The breakfast was hands down the best breakfast I have ever had! And yes — I really mean it. The eggs? Perfect. The potatoes? Unreal. And the biscuit… oh my gosh. That biscuit with honey!? O.M.G. I've never had a biscuit like that in my entire 42 years. And I'm about to go back just for that. On our way out, we were asked about the places we visited during our trip, and we mentioned the incredible dinner we had the night before (stay tuned for part three).
