I’m so excited to share that I was recently featured in my fourth magazine interview, where I had the chance to open up about my journey as the owner of Celestial Farms, a modern farmhouse Detroit wedding venue in Michigan, and to reflect on the lessons, people, and experiences that have shaped me.
One of the most inspiring parts of this conversation was talking about my mentor, Didi Russell, whose guidance has been instrumental in helping me grow Celestial Farms into the thriving Detroit wedding venue it is today. From her drive to her fun, approachable personality, Didi has taught me so much—not just about running a successful wedding business, but about how to nurture small businesses, support local communities and other locally owned wedding venues, and most importantly how to lead with heart.
The Heart of Celestial Farms: Building a Team that Makes Magic Happen
In the interview, I shared that the thing I’m most proud of—though often unseen—is the team mentality we’ve cultivated at Celestial Farms wedding venue. Behind every wedding day is a group of passionate professionals who genuinely care about our couples, the wedding experience, and the little details that make a wedding day truly unforgettable.

Our team is the heart and soul of Celestial Farms wedding venue, and it wouldn’t exist without collaboration, trust, and dedication from everyone involved.
Wedding Venues in Michigan: What Makes Celestial Farms Unique
I’m Jennifer Wilson, and Celestial Farms is a modern Michigan barn wedding venue located on a private 20-acre farm in Clio, just an hour north of Detroit, Michigan. What sets us apart is that timeline planning and day-of coordinating services are included with every single wedding, because I truly believe that a seamless planning experience and wedding experience for couples and their guests is priceless.
Transforming our family’s horse farm into a wedding venue in 2022 was both a labor of love and a way to honor our parents’ legacy. We suffered a tragic loss years ago and inherited the Celestial Farms horse farm. Then after our last horse-Midnight- passed five years ago, I followed a vision to reimagine the horse barn into a space that reflects thoughtful design, heartfelt hospitality, and a love of love stories.
From blogging about weddings to producing my YouTube podcast, “Unveiled with Jennifer Wilson | brought to you by Celestial Farms”, and expanding into cinematic videography with my daughter, Kylee Wilson Media, I’ve been able to create wedding content and experiences that elevate our couples’ weddings while staying true to our beloved brand and values.
Who Saw Me Clearly Before I Could See Myself
One of the questions in the interview asked me who recognized my potential before I saw it myself. My answer: my clients. From day one, their trust, feedback, and excitement gave me the confidence I needed to push forward, innovate, and grow. They saw my passion for weddings and wedding planning, my attention to detail, and my genuine care for every couple’s wedding experience—and that belief has fueled my journey ever since. Lessons from Didi Russell
A huge part of my success comes from the education and guidance of Didi Russell and the incredible community of locally owned wedding venues. I entered this industry knowing little more than how to throw a good party—but I quickly learned that running a successful wedding venue involves so much more: SEO strategies, social media marketing, operational policies, and building a brand organically.
Didi’s mentorship has been invaluable. She has shown me how to grow a small, locally owned business while maintaining authenticity, how to think strategically, and how to stay miles ahead of the competition (that part)—all while making the journey so much fun. Her insights and generosity have been a guiding light, and I’m forever grateful for the knowledge and confidence she’s shared with me. I had the pleasure of meeting her in person for the first time in Nashville at our wedding working vacation and I can't wait to go on the next one!

Finally, this magazine interview asked what I understand deeply that most people don’t. I shared that my advantage lies in mastering the flow of a perfect wedding day. Knowing when to step in, when to step back, and how to anticipate a couple’s needs allows me to create seamless, intentional, and unforgettable wedding experiences. It’s empathy, intuition, and a love for the details that make every wedding at Celestial Farms feel “just right.”
Being featured in this magazine interview -my fourth- was such an honor, and it gave me the chance to reflect on all the lessons, relationships, and experiences that have brought Celestial Farms wedding venue to life.
