  • A Celestial Anniversary: Meteor Showers, Boutique Destination Weddings, and the Best Burgers in Michigan

Port Crescent State Park Anniversaries are a time to reflect on our journey, celebrate the love we’ve shared, the lives we’ve built together, and create new memories. This year, Kyle and I decided to honor our love and the venue, Celestial Farms Weddings and Events, that has been a central part of our lives for the last four years with a "celestial" themed anniversary trip. As the proud owners of Celestial Farms , it only seemed fitting to explore the wonders of the night sky while celebrating the stars in our lives—both literal and figurative. Our destination: Port Austin, a quaint Michigan town along Lake Huron known for its natural beauty and one of the state's few dark sky parks/ Port Crescent State Park.  85ten : A Boutique Escape 85ten Boutique Hotel We started our journey with a stay at 85ten , a charming and fun boutique hotel located in Port Austin that is a great place for a destination wedding. Stepping inside, it was as if we'd been transported back in time, though with all the modern comforts we could ask for. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored house from the 1800s, giving it an elegant yet cozy feel. What made it even more impressive was meeting the owner and learning she grew up in this home. Every corner told a story, with antique touches balanced by thoughtful updates and amazing design choices that had me craving a complete makeover of my home. The charm, the design and the character made our stay both luxurious and extremely comfortable. 85ten Boutique Hotel The intimate atmosphere of 85ten was perfect for a romantic getaway or a Michigan destination wedding. Our room had a unique blend of historic character and modern chic, offering just the right amount of nostalgia without sacrificing style or comfort. The bathroom was perfection. The tile work was absolutely gorgeous. The bed and bedding was so comfortable I had a hard time waking up! It was the kind of place where you could easily curl up with a good book or spend hours talking, or enjoying a cocktail with friends. It felt like a home away from home, and every detail was meticulously curated to give guests a true boutique experience. 85ten Boutique Hotel The old-world charm of the house, combined with the boutique amenities, made our stay feel like an extended escape from the world, which was exactly what we needed during the busiest time of our year. Our days started with the smell of fresh coffee brewing in the hotel's communal area, and we spent our mornings wandering the grounds, admiring the way the light played off the beautifully restored architecture, enjoying the lineup of hydrangeas that I recognized from the vase on my nightstand. It was a perfect prelude to our celestial adventure. 85ten offers weddings as well. In fact the owner's daughter had her ceremony in the front yard and reception in the back. And the hotel is just the right size for all of your bridal party and immediate family. Wedding's here are truly unique and one of a kind. 85ten Boutique Hotel Chasing Stars at Port Austin's Dark Sky Park One of the highlights of our short little anniversary getaway was spending a night under the stars at Port Austin's dark sky park. Kyle and I have always been fascinated by the night sky, and with a venue like Celestial Farms, the connection to the cosmos runs deep. This park was the perfect place to indulge that passion and watch the wonders of the universe unfold. The park, free from the light pollution that so often obscures the stars, provided a clear view of the meteor showers that had drawn us to Port Austin in the first place. We brought along blankets and found a cozy spot to settle in for the night. As the sun set, the sky began to transform, revealing countless stars that seemed to multiply with every passing minute. The "ooh's and ahh's" were coming from every direction. The experience was both humbling and exhilarating, a reminder of how vast the universe is and how lucky we are to be here in this tiny little corner we call our own. Caseville's Cheeseburger Festival: A Fun Culinary Detour While our trip was largely focused on the celestial, we couldn't resist making a detour to nearby Caseville for their annual Cheeseburger Festival. After all, no anniversary trip for Kyle and I is complete without indulging in some delicious food, and this festival promised a lineup of mouthwatering burgers that we couldn’t pass up. Our first stop was Beachy's Restaurant , where we tried the Blue Heaven Burger . I have to admit, this burger was an unexpected delight and quickly became my favorite. I was definitely stepping outside of my comfort zone with this burger. And I was blown away. The combination of blueberries with the savory burger created a flavor explosion that was both sweet and tangy. It was unlike anything I had tasted before, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the creativity that went into crafting such a unique dish. The blueberries added a refreshing twist to the traditional burger, and I found myself savoring every bite, letting the flavors linger just a little longer. If this isn't a regular on the menu, it should be. I'd make a special trip just for a dinner date for this burger, it was THAT good! Blue Heaven Burger- Beachy's Not to be outdone, Kyle had his eye on the Apple Jack Burger from Walt's Restaurant . This burger had already made waves at the festival, winning the 2024 burger contest, so we knew we had to try it. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. The combination of apples and melted pepper jack cheese, created a rich, autumnal flavor that was both comforting and delicious. It was the kind of burger that sticks with you, the perfect blend of sweet and savory, with a little extra something that sets it apart from the rest. Although it won first place, Beachy's Blue Heaven burger is number one in my book! We spent the afternoon wandering the festival, enjoying the festive atmosphere, and of course a freshly fried corn dog and a delicious freshly squeezed lemonade. The energy of the festival was contagious, with everyone in high spirits, celebrating not just the burgers but the community that makes Caseville so special. We really loved the live music at Beachy’s Bar. Especially when this young man performed for the crowd! By the time we left, we were full, happy, and already planning our next trip back. Reflecting on a Perfect Getaway As we packed up and prepared to head back to Celestial Farms , I couldn’t help but reflect on how perfect our anniversary trip had been. The combination of stunning natural beauty, boutique luxury, a trip to the beach and fun culinary adventures made for a truly memorable experience. It was a trip that celebrated not only our love for each other but also our love for the things that make life special—quiet moments under the stars, charming places with rich histories, and, of course, great food. Our celestial-themed anniversary was a fitting tribute to the journey Kyle and I have been on together. Just as the stars guide us through the night, our love continues to guide us through life’s ups and downs. We returned to Celestial Farms feeling refreshed, reconnected, and ready to take on whatever the future holds. Big Thanks to Didi Russell for the blogging inspiration! And our fellow locally owned wedding venue owners for the continued support! Willow Sky Ranch Antler Ridge Weddings

  • 5 Essential Questions to Ask When Choosing Your Wedding Venue: A guide to finding your Detroit AREA Wedding Venue

At Celestial Farms we believe that when you're searching for your dream Detroit area wedding venue there are 5 essential questions you must ask. The wedding venue sets the tone for the entire event and impacts every aspect of your big day, from guest comfort to the preferred and partner vendors they use and even your budget. While it’s tempting to fall in love with a venue based on its aesthetic or location, it’s essential to dig deeper and ensure that it aligns with your vision, needs, wants, logistics, and budget. Angela's Angles Photogrpahy At Celestial Farms in Clio Michigan, we understand how overwhelming it can be to find a wedding venue that feels like a perfect fit for you. We've helped many brides and grooms navigate this important decision. Based on our experience, here are five essential questions to ask when choosing your dream Detroit area wedding venue. 1. What Is Included in the Venue’s Pricing Package? One of the first things couples often look at when touring a wedding venue is the price. But the price tag alone doesn’t always give you the full picture. You need to know what’s included in the cost to determine if the venue fits your budget and to determine if there are services you need to add or eliminate. For example, we are exclusive with CHEERS TO YOU BARTENDING which not only makes drink menu planning a breeze but we can also guarantee excellent bar service for our clients and their wedding guests. And EVERY wedding here includes day of coordination-a priceless and crucial service that makes every event flow seamlessly. Are there strict time limits or are you allowed to start hair/makeup and decorating as early as you'd like? Casey with Cheers To You Bartending and Charcuterie Some venues offer all-inclusive packages that cover almost everything- from DJ and photography services and even catering. Other venues, like Celestial Farms, work with a curated list of preferred vendors for services such as videography, photography, DJ services, catering, cake and more. While we don’t offer fully exclusive packages, we make sure our preferred vendors, like Angela’s Angles Photography , Cheers to You Bartending , Mission BBQ and Sugar High Bakery , know our venue inside out and offer competitive, exclusive packages for our couples. This gives you the flexibility to build your dream wedding with trusted professionals, without worrying about getting stuck with a vendor you aren't happy with. Before booking a venue, ask: • Are tables, chairs, and linens included in the package? • Is there an additional fee for setup and teardown? • What amenities come with the rental (heating, air conditioning, restrooms)? • Are there additional charges for bringing your own vendors? • What’s the cancellation policy? 2. How Many Guests Can the Venue Accommodate Comfortably? Angela's Angles Photography While it’s easy to fall in love with a venue’s look, you also need to think about its capacity and layout for your wedding size. A wedding venue might be visually stunning but impractical if it can’t comfortably fit your guest count. When looking at capacity, ask yourself what kind of wedding experience you would like to have. Do you envision an intimate ceremony with close friends and family, or are you planning a larger and more grand celebration? Keep in mind that venue capacity can affect other decisions, like catering, parking, and restroom availability. It’s not just about whether everyone fits, but whether everyone has enough room to enjoy themselves. At Celestial Farms , we’re proud to offer flexible spaces that can accommodate both intimate ceremonies and larger weddings. We recommend asking your venue: • What is the maximum guest capacity? • Is there a separate space for the ceremony and reception, or will the venue need to be flipped? • Can the venue accommodate your specific setup, such as long banquet tables or a dance floor? • Are there options for indoor and outdoor spaces? • What is the plan for inclement weather, especially if you’re having an outdoor ceremony? Pavilion Ceremony, Angela's Angles Photography 3. What Is the Venue’s Availability and Scheduling Flexibility? Venue availability is one of the biggest determining factors when selecting your ideal wedding date. Popular venues tend to book out months (sometimes years) in advance, especially for prime wedding seasons. If you have your heart set on a specific date, you’ll need to check to see if the venue is available. However, if your wedding date is flexible you have more options to work with. Many venues offer off-season rates or discounts for weddings booked on weekdays or Sundays. At Celestial Farms, we collaborate with our vendors, like Angela’s Angles Photography and Cheers to You Bartending, to provide discounted rates for winter weddings or midweek events, giving couples more options to fit their budget without compromising on quality. When discussing availability, ask: • What dates are available in my desired time frame? • Are there any discounts for weekday or off-season weddings? • How much time is allotted for the setup, the event, and teardown? • Is there flexibility if my event runs longer than expected? 4. What Is the Venue’s Policy on Vendors and Décor? Your wedding is a personal expression of your style and your story, and most couples want to add unique touches to make the wedding venue feel like it reflects their personalities. However, some venues have strict rules regarding what kind of décor is allowed, or even how you can set up the space. At Celestial Farms , we always encourage couples to customize the venue to match their vision, while also working within guidelines to preserve the space and ensure safety. We provide a preferred vendor list, which includes talented professionals that we trust. These vendors are familiar with our venue’s setup and policies, and we keep a great line of communication with them which helps streamline your wedding day. However, we’re open to working with your favorite outside vendors, provided they meet our standards and comply with our venue's policies. For décor, we’re known for our beautiful, modern barn setting that provides a rustic yet elegant backdrop and requires very little decorating. And while many of our couples choose a very minimalist decor approach due to the natural beauty of the facilities, we still encourage personalization. Whether it’s hanging and installing custom LED's or custom floral installations, we’re happy to help you transform the space while respecting its integrity. Angela's Angles Photography When choosing your venue, be sure to ask: • Can I use my own vendors, or do I have to use the venue’s preferred vendors? • Are there any restrictions on décor, such as candles, string lights, or hanging installations? • What is the venue’s policy on cleanup? Will they take care of it, or is that the responsibility of the couple? • Does the venue have partnerships with vendors that offer discounts or special packages? 5. What Support Does the Venue Offer on the Wedding Day? The day of your wedding will be extremely stressful if you don’t have the right support system in place. Some venues offer an on-site coordinator or day-of staff to help manage the flow of the event, while others leave you to handle all logistics on your own. At Celestial Farms, we pride ourselves on our service and offer comprehensive support to ensure your day runs as smoothly as possible. Our team, including Angie from Angela’s Angles Photography, Casey from Cheers to You Bartending, and dedicated staff like Yolanda and Ansleigh, are here to help with everything from setting up for the ceremony to managing sparkler send-offs. We also work closely with your vendors to ensure seamless coordination. This allows you to focus on enjoying your special day while we handle all of the logistics. When choosing a venue, ask: • Does the venue provide a day-of coordinator or event manager? • Are there staff members available to assist with setup, teardown, or general troubleshooting during the event? • What role does the venue play in coordinating with vendors on the wedding day? • Are there any additional fees for staffing or coordination services? Conclusion: Making the Right Choice Emily Ann Photography Choosing the right location and venue for your wedding is a deeply personal decision, but it’s also a practical one. By asking the right questions, you can ensure that your dream wedding venue aligns with your budget, style, and vision. At Celestial Farms, we strive to bring every vision to life. We strive to make every couple’s wedding day as magical and stress-free as possible, from offering trusted vendors to providing a beautiful setting that’s both elegant and versatile which your guests will love. • Capturing Candid Content at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue

Candid moment captured by Yolanda with Celestial Farms Our Celestial Farms staff is constantly capturing candid content at every event here at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue, and it's a priceless contribution to your Detroit area Wedding. Weddings are made of moments—some planned, sometimes many others unexpected, but all deeply cherished for a lifetime. From the first glance exchanged between a bride and groom to the quiet, unscripted laughter among friends and family, it’s often the little things that create the most enduring memories. At Celestial Farms, we understand how important these fleeting moments are, and that’s why we’ve made it a priority to go beyond the traditional services you might expect from a wedding venue. As a modern barn venue that prides itself on personalization and attention to detail, Celestial Farms offers many truly unique experiences including candid content captured by our staff. These aren’t the posed photos typically captured by your hired photographer or the orchestrated moments filmed by the videographer. These are the unguarded, real moments that happen in the background of every wedding—the moments that make the day genuinely yours. Our dedicated team, including familiar faces like Angie, Casey, Yolanda, and Ansleigh, plays a pivotal role in this candid content process. Our team members have become experts at blending into the background while also capturing the beauty of the day in the most authentic way possible. In this blog, we’ll explore why candid content is invaluable, how our staff goes about capturing it, and why it adds an extra layer of personalization to your wedding at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue. The Importance of Candid Moments Weddings are often seen as a series of carefully orchestrated events: the ceremony, the first dance, the cake cutting. However, the real magic often happens in the in-between. The joyful tear that escapes a father’s eye as he watches his daughter walk down the aisle, the spontaneous dance-off between cousins during the reception, or the stolen glance between newlyweds during the quiet moments between festivities—these are the moments that live on in memory long after the day has passed. Professional photographers and videographers do a fantastic job of capturing the big moments. They are the experts when it comes to composing shots, setting up lighting, and framing the perfect first kiss. But even the best professionals can’t be everywhere at once, or capture the behind the scenes moments that don't make it to the photographers and videographers final edit and that’s where our team steps in. "Candids and behind-the-scenes shots are the best content because people don't realize what it takes to go into a photo, a ceremony, a venue, or just the everyday life of a business owner. Period." Angie: Angela's Angles Photography At Celestial Farms, we believe that these spontaneous moments deserve to be preserved too. Our staff takes it upon themselves to capture behind-the-scenes glimpses that may otherwise go unnoticed. It’s the ultimate wedding day bonus—a treasure trove of candid, unscripted content that gives you a fuller picture of your special day. How Our Staff Captures Candid Content While photographers and videographers are typically focused on key moments, our team is trained to notice the subtler happenings. Each member of our staff has a natural eye for emotion and beauty, but they’re also familiar enough with the venue and wedding flow to anticipate when and where these candid moments will occur. Take Angie, for instance. As the owner of Angela’s Angles Photography , she has a deep understanding of what makes for a memorable photo. When she steps in as a staff member during weddings, she uses her photographer’s eye to notice small, intimate moments that others might miss. Whether it’s a nervous bride smoothing her dress just before the walk down the aisle or a couple sharing a quiet laugh during a sunset stroll, Angie captures these moments with a quiet grace that makes them feel completely natural. Then there’s Casey, who’s usually busy ensuring that the bar service runs smoothly as part of ‘ Cheers to You Bartending and Charcuterie. ’ But Casey has a special way of connecting with guests, which often results in her capturing spontaneous, joy-filled moments behind the bar or during the reception. You’ll find photos or videos of friends clinking glasses, bridesmaids sharing inside jokes, or a newlywed couple stealing a sip of champagne between dances. These snapshots are the heart and soul of your celebration—the moments you’ll look back on and laugh, cry, and smile over. Candid moment captured by Angie with Angela's Angles Photogrpahy Even Yolanda and Ansleigh, who work behind the scenes at Celestial Farms , aren’t just handling logistics—they’re part of the experience too. They’ve become experts at documenting fun, candid moments like guests arriving in awe of the venue’s beauty or groups of friends taking impromptu photos by the barn’s rustic doors. Yolanda’s calm demeanor and Ansleigh’s vibrant energy allow them to connect with guests in a way that makes everyone feel at ease, often leading to unplanned, beautiful content. "I like to watch what the photographer is focusing on, and while they're capturing that, I look around from a different angle to see what else is happening that's picture-worthy at the same time!" Yolanda: Celestial Farms Team Member The Priceless Nature of Candid Content When couples receive their professional photos and videos, they usually find themselves reliving the key events of the day: the vows, the cake cutting, the first dance. These are the moments they’ll expect to see and cherish, but candid content offers something different. It brings back the unexpected, the funny, the heartwarming—things you didn’t even realize were happening at the time. For instance, while your professional photographer might be focusing on your walk down the aisle, our staff might capture the flower girl in the corner of the frame, peeking curiously at her petals. While your videographer is recording your first dance, we might snap a picture of your parents holding hands, watching you with pride in their eyes. These moments are invaluable because they fill in the gaps of your memory. You get to experience your wedding day from multiple perspectives: through the eyes of your guests, your family, your wedding party, and your own. Each candid shot is like a puzzle piece that, when combined with the professional photos and videos, creates a fuller, more vivid picture of your day. The Personalized Experience at Celestial Farms We pride ourselves on making every wedding at Celestial Farms as personal and unique as possible. From our exclusive partnerships with vendors like Angie’s Angela’s Angles Photography and Casey’s ‘Cheers to You Bartending and Charcuterie’ to the care we put into each event, our goal is to make your day feel entirely yours. Candid content is another way we achieve this personalization. Candid moments by Angie with Angela's Angles Photography Unlike the standard posed shots you might expect, candid photos and videos reflect the authentic you—the you that laughs uncontrollably at your best friend’s speech, the you that sneaks a moment of quiet reflection before the ceremony, the you that dances barefoot under the stars with your new spouse. These are the moments that matter, and they’re what makes your wedding truly unique to you. Because our staff knows Celestial Farms inside and out, they’re able to capture these moments in a way that feels natural. They know where the light hits just right during golden hour, where guests tend to congregate during cocktail hour, and where to be to catch those sweet, hidden moments between couples. And because our team is part of the day rather than an outside vendor, they’re able to capture these moments without interrupting the flow of your celebration. Adding Value with Candid Videos While photography is a major part of what we offer, we’re also increasingly incorporating candid videos into our service. Thanks to the rise of social media and short-form video content, these clips have become a fun, informal way for couples to relive moments from their wedding day. Our staff often captures short video clips of candid moments on their phones or cameras. These clips could be anything from guests cheering during the sparkler send-off to a slow-motion video of the couple twirling in the moonlight. These raw, unedited videos are perfect for sharing on social media or simply keeping as a personal memento. As the day of coordinator, I have the best possible positions to capture once in a lifetime candid content. From the brides first step out of the suite as the photographer and videographer are waiting ahead, to the short video clips I capture of the groom as he makes his way to the alter. I love it so much that if I could wear a body cam without looking ridiculous I absolutely would! Jen: Owner of Celestial Farms Imagine having a behind-the-scenes video of you getting ready with your bridesmaids, where Angie’s laughter fills the room as she catches a quiet moment between you and your maid of honor. Or a quick shot of Casey cheering with your guests as she hands out celebratory drinks during the toasts. These short clips bring the day to life in a way that still photos alone can’t, and they add another layer of personalization to your experience at Celestial Farms. Conclusion: A Wedding Experience Like No Other At Celestial Farms , we know that your wedding is about more than just the big moments. It’s about the in-between moments—the unexpected, unplanned instances that often turn out to be the most cherished memories of all. That’s why our staff goes above and beyond to capture candid content throughout the day, giving you a priceless resource that adds depth and personalization to your wedding memories. Candid moment captured by Angie with Angela's Angles Photography Whether it’s a quiet smile, a stolen glance, or a spontaneous dance, our Celestial Farms team is there to document every special moment for our Detroit area couples. We consider it a privilege to be part of your day and to offer this unique service that enhances the traditional wedding experience. After all, when you choose Celestial Farms, you’re not just getting a beautiful venue—you’re getting a team of passionate people who care about making your day truly unforgettable. In the end, it’s these candid moments that will make you smile years down the line, reminding you of the real, raw, and beautifully human parts of your Celestial Farms wedding. That’s the magic we capture at Celestial Farms- a Detroit area wedding venue, and we can’t wait to help make your day as special as it deserves to be. Here are some essential ones: General Venue Questions ✔ How many guests can this space accommodate? ✔ What amenities and services are included in the rental price? ✔ What time is the music off? ✔ Can I bring my own vendors, or do I have to use the venue's preferred list? Celestial Farms Answer: We accommodate up to 150 guests and provide tables and chairs with setup and takedown, and most importantly- timeline planning and on-site coordination. We also have a trusted preferred vendor list with experts such as Angela's Angles Photography , Savoy Entertainment Services , Bovan Floral Group , SugarHigh Bakery and Mission BBQ , to ensure top-notch service, but are open to outside quality vendors if they fit your vision and meet our standards. Logistics & Setup ✔ What time can we arrive to the venue on the wedding day? ✔ Who handles setup and take down? ✔ Is there a backup plan for bad weather? Celestial Farms Answer: You’ll have early access to our venue, any time of your choice, and our team assists with setup and teardown. For outdoor ceremonies, we offer a covered pavilion as Plan B as well as indoor options in case of rain. Celestial Farms Answer: We have an exclusive partnership with Cheers to You Bartending and Charcuterie , ensuring seamless bar service. You will pay for the service and purchase your own liquor separately- and take home your leftovers. That's a HUGE money saver! Candles must be flameless and sparklers are allowed outside for send-offs, coordinated and executed by the CF team. Guest Experience & Accessibility ✔ Is there ample parking? ✔ Is the venue wheelchair accessible? ✔ Are there nearby accommodations for out of town guests, and can we leave cars overnight? Angela's Angles Photography Celestial Farms Answer: We provide plenty of onsite parking. Wheelchair accessibility was a pr iority when we designed all of our spaces and have two wheelchair accessible restrooms, and sidewalks outside. We are located near several hotels and Airbnbs for guest convenience in Birch Run and Frankenmuth and the surrounding areas. Step 6: Review the Contract Carefully Before signing, read the contract thoroughly. Look for: • Payment schedules and refund policies. • Cancellation policies. • Liability clauses. At Celestial Farms, we ensure all contract details are clear, so there are no surprises. We use Honeybook for monthly payment options. We require an event insurance policy and highly recommend adding cancellation coverage to your policy as we do not give refunds, only postponements. • Sweet Alternatives: Desserts we're Seeing More of at Wedding Venues in Michigan

When planning a wedding, couples often spend a lot of time deciding on the perfect wedding cake design and flavor—only to find that much of it goes uneaten. At Celestial Farms , one of the top wedding venues in Michigan, we’ve seen firsthand how much cake gets wasted at the end of the night at weddings. There's no doubt they're beautiful, but they can also be difficult to cut and serve (especially if your baker isn’t on standby), messy, and many times left untouched—especially when guests are drinking alcohol and are busy dancing the night away. Angela's Angles Photography If you’re looking for ways to cut down on waste, simplify dessert service, and even save money on your overall budget, consider these alternative wedding desserts that your guests will love. ⸻ 1. The Perfect Balance: A Small Cutting Cake + Pre-Packaged Cookies One of our favorite solutions at Celestial Farms for couples who still want the tradition of cutting a cake for pictures but don’t want the hassle of serving 150 pieces is a small, personal and beautiful cake just for the Bride and Groom. This allows you to have that picture-perfect moment without worrying about cutting and distributing a ton of cake to all your guests. One of our favorite alternatives to consider is individually wrapped cookies. This is such an easy, mess-free alternative. Cookies can be pre-packaged in clear decorative wrap or small treat bags so guests can enjoy them at the reception or take them home to enjoy later. They make a great late-night snack, take home dessert, and they can double as wedding favors! If you’re looking to splurge on a high-quality bakery, consider Sugar High Bakery (a local favorite and winner of Cupcake Wars) or Alyssa's Cakes (a preferred vendor and one of our favorites at Celestial Farms ). They both make desserts that wedding guests absolutely love. Our April 12th couple Ashley and Cory have chosen brownies and cookies from Sugar High Bakery instead of a traditional wedding cake, and we know their guests will be thrilled! But don’t feel like you have to go all out—even cookies from Sam’s Club or Walmart are a fantastic and affordable option that can still be delicious and aesthetically pleasing. People love cookies, and at the end of the night, guests care more about a yummy easy to grab treat than a fancy piece of cake that requires a plate and fork. ⸻ 2. Mini Cheesecakes: A Crowd-Pleasing Favorite If you want a dessert that feels indulgent but is very easy to serve, mini cheesecakes are a perfect choice at Michigan wedding venues. They come in a variety of flavors—classic New York, strawberry swirl, chocolate, caramel, and more—allowing your guests to pick their favorite flavors in bite size/finger food form! Mini cheesecakes can be displayed beautifully on trays or tiered stands, or individually packaged in small clear containers for a fun grab-and-go option. Unlike a traditional cheesecake that needs to be cut and plated, these cute alternatives are pre-portioned and easy to serve, making them an ideal choice for weddings and many of our couples at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue in Clio, Michigan. ⸻ 3. A Candy Table for a Nostalgic, Fun Twist For a fun and interactive dessert option, consider a candy table at your wedding. Fill glass jars or decorative bowls with an assortment of your favorite sweets, allowing guests to scoop up their faves into easy to take home treat bags. Some great ideas for a wedding candy table include: • Chocolates wrapped in your wedding colors • Gummy bears or sour candies • M&Ms- also available in custom colors • Big name wrapped chocolates (like Hershey’s Kisses or Lindor truffles) • Custom-labeled candy bars with your wedding date or monogram A candy table satisfies your guests’ sweet cravings, acts as a decor element that can be themed to match your wedding colors or style, and is a fun interactive activity for everyone. ⸻ 4. Elegant Macarons in Your Wedding Colors For a bit more of a sophisticated dessert option, French macarons are a stunning and delicious alternative to traditional wedding cake. These delicate, meringue-based cookies come in a variety of flavors and colors and can be custom-colored to perfectly match your wedding theme. Macarons are also naturally gluten-free, making them a safe choice for guests that may have dietary restrictions. Whether you serve them in classic flavors like vanilla, strawberry or raspberry, and pistachio or unique ones like champagne or salted caramel, they’ll add a touch of elegance to any dessert spread at your favorite Michigan wedding venue. ⸻ 5. Brownies: The Ultimate Crowd-Pleaser Brownies are another fantastic alternative to traditional wedding cake because they’re rich, chocolatey, easy to eat and a favorite for many people. Like cookies, they can be conveniently pre-packaged for a take-home option or displayed beautifully on tiered trays and stands. Our April 12th couple at Celestial Farms a Michigan wedding venue, is serving brownies and cookies from Sugar High Bakery , and we can't wait! Guests love classic, homemade-style desserts, and brownies never go to waste unlike cake and cupcakes so often do. Whether you serve them plain, with nuts, or with toppings like caramel or ganache, they’re guaranteed to be a hit! ⸻ 6. Authentic Desserts & Cultural Sweets One of the most memorable wedding dessert table setups we’ve seen at Celestial Farms featured authentic Italian desserts, which added a personal and meaningful touch to the couple and their families. If you have a strong connection to your heritage, serving traditional and authentic desserts from your background is a fun and meaningful way to share your culture with your guests. For an Italian dessert spread, consider: • Cannoli – Crispy pastry shells filled with sweet ricotta cream • Tiramisu – Layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream • Pizzelle – Delicate, crispy Italian waffle cookies • Sfogliatelle – Flaky pastries filled with ricotta and citrus zest • Amaretti Cookies – Chewy almond-flavored cookies Other cultural dessert ideas could include: • Baklava (Greek or Middle Eastern weddings) • Mochi or Taiyaki (Japanese weddings) • Churros or Tres Leches Cake (Mexican weddings) • Kolaczki (Polish weddings) Not only do these authentic desserts bring a personal touch to your wedding day, but they also create a unique and memorable experience for your guests, giving them something special and maybe something they've never tried before. It's fun, delicious and different from the traditional wedding cake and wedding venues near me are seeing more and more couples serve authentic desserts. ⸻ 7. Pre-Packaged Dessert Favors: Sweet & Practical Another fun and practical idea is to give your guests pre-packaged desserts as wedding favors. Instead of spending money on customized trinkets that guests often leave behind, why not send them home with a sweet treat they’ll actually enjoy? Some great pre-packaged wedding dessert favors to consider include: • Mini jars of honey or jam • Small boxes of chocolate truffles • Individually wrapped rice krispie treats • Personalized bags of popcorn Not only are these options delicious, but they also eliminate waste—something we see a lot at wedding venues in Michigan. Guests can take them home and enjoy them later instead of leaving uneaten slices of cake or cupcakes behind. ⸻ Why Alternative Desserts Make Sense for Your Wedding If you’re getting married at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue in Clio, Michigan—or any of the stunning wedding venues in Michigan—choosing an alternative dessert can save you time, money, and sometimes stress. A large amount of wedding cake can be expensive, messy, and often impractical. Guests who are drinking delicious cocktails made by Cheers to You Bartending or dancing the night away rarely stop to eat cake. By offering pre-portioned, grab-and-go, or pre-packaged desserts at your wedding, you make things easier for yourself, your guests, and your team. Whether it’s cookies, brownies, mini cheesecakes, macarons, or a beautifully curated authentic dessert table, there are so many fun and creative ways to give your guests a sweet ending to the night—without the hassle of a traditional cake and of course without waste. Wedding Venues in Michigan That Exceed Your Expectations: Celestial Farms Is an alternative dessert right for you? Your wedding dessert should be fun, delicious, and as stress-free as possible. At Celestial Farms Wedding Venue , we’ve seen so many of our couples rethink the traditional cake, and the results have been amazing. • The 2025 Fourth of July Events Near our Wedding Venue

Your Guide to Fireworks, Festivals, and all things Fourth of July in Mid-Michigan As the owner of Celestial Farms wedding venue at 3116 E. Vienna Road in Clio, Michigan, a modern barn wedding venue for 150 guests, I get to experience so many beautiful love stories. When weddings fall near a major holiday like the Fourth of July, it adds a bit of sparkle and flare to your day. And there’s something about love and fireworks that just feels meant to be. This year, we have the absolute joy of celebrating Marina and Ryan’s wedding at Celestial Farms on July 3rd, 2025. And with so many amazing events happening across Mid-Michigan that fourth of July weekend, I wanted to put together a complete guide for our couples, their guests, and anyone else looking to make the most of the 2025 Fourth of July holiday nearest our wedding venue. A Wedding Under the Stars: Marina & Ryan at Celestial Farms on July, 3rd 2025 Before we dive into fireworks and festivals, let me gush for just a moment about our July 3rd couple—Marina and Ryan. From the moment I met Marina, I knew she was one of those brides I'd be close with. She just radiates joy and kindness. Every time we chat, it’s like talking to a close friend. We’ve laughed, brainstormed decor ideas, and even planned a few surprise TikToks to create—think bomb pops and sparklers! Hosting Marina and Ryan the day before the Fourth of July couldn’t be more perfect for their wedding guests. Their wedding kicks off a weekend of celebration, love, and Michigan magic right here in Mid-Michigan. Fireworks & Festivities: Frankenmuth’s Fourth of July Events Chelsea and Joey: Emily Ann Photography Just 20 minutes from our wedding venue in Clio, the charming Bavarian town of Frankenmuth, Michigan transforms into a patriotic playground every Fourth of July. It’s our top recommendation for couples or guests who want a scenic day trip before or after the wedding, or a unique hotel to stay in. Frankenmuth Fireworks – July 3, 2025 Location: Heritage Park – 601 Weiss St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734 Frankenmuth’s fireworks display is hosted by the Frankenmuth Jaycees and is one of the most beloved in Mid-Michigan. The show takes place on the evening of July 3rd—which is perfect timing for Marina and Ryan’s guests who might want to head there after the wedding, or with their children a little before the wedding ends. What to Expect: • Fireworks begin at dusk, around 10 p.m. Music is off at 10:00 p.m. for this particular wedding. • Live music and food vendors set up early in the evening. • Heritage Park sits along the Cass River, offering stunning reflections of the display and cozy spots for couples or families to spread out a blanket and enjoy the view. Parking Tips: • Arrive early; Heritage Park fills fast! (Our wedding guests need to plan ahead and carpool with each other) • There is free parking downtown near Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth (730 S Main St) and the River Place Shops (925 S Main St). From there, it’s a short walk to the park. ⸻ Bay City Fireworks Festival – July 3–5, 2025 Location: Veterans Memorial Park – 301 JFK Dr, Bay City, MI 48706 Distance from Clio: About 45 minutes northeast If you want a jaw-dropping, multi-day Fourth of July experience, Bay City is where it’s at. Their fireworks festival spans three nights and draws people from all over the Midwest. It’s loud, colorful, and incredibly patriotic—perfect for newlyweds wanting to celebrate their first holiday together in a big way. Misson BBQ Gives Back: Read their story here Photos by Angela's Angles Photography 2025 Schedule Highlights: • Thursday, July 3 : Opening night with local bands and smaller firework shows (The 3rd may be difficult with travel for Marina and Ryans guests-but the 4th would be perfect!) • Friday, July 4 : The main event with one of the largest fireworks displays in the Midwest • Saturday, July 5 : Family day with a carnival, boat parade, and additional fireworks to close out the weekend Landmarks Nearby: • Wenonah Park (801 N Water St): Great views and green space • Liberty Harbor Marina (100 Admiral Ct): Perfect for watching fireworks over the water • Center Avenue Historic District: For history buffs, this neighborhood is a beauty to stroll during the day Parking Tips: • Street parking is limited—try parking at the Bay City Mall (4101 Wilder Rd) and using shuttle services • Paid parking available near Veterans Park (early arrival strongly recommended!) ⸻ July 4th in Clio & Surrounding Towns While Clio itself is a bit quieter on the Fourth of July, there’s no shortage of small-town celebrations in neighboring areas that are worth the drive when in town for a wedding. Montrose Fourth of July Festival – July 4, 2025 Location: Barber Memorial Park – 11410 Seymour Rd, Montrose, MI 48457 Distance: 10 miles west of Clio This is a favorite among families and couples who want a smaller hometown vibe. Expect a classic parade, games for kids, food trucks, and fireworks at dusk. The whole park turns into a picnic paradise. Birch Run Speedway Fireworks – July 5, 2025 Location: 10945 Dixie Hwy, Birch Run, MI 48415 Distance from Celestial Farms: 12 minutes After the main holiday, you can still catch a great fireworks show at the Birch Run Speedway- on bleachers at the racetrack. It’s unique, loud, and an unforgettable experience. Travel Tips for Wedding Guests Visiting Over the Fourth of July Weekend: Many of our couples choose Fourth of July weekend for their wedding because it gives guests extra time to travel and explore. Here are some helpful tips if you’re coming to Celestial Farms wedding venue or attending a local event: Lodging Options Near Celestial Farms: • Holiday Inn Express & Suites – Birch Run: 12150 Dixie Hwy, Birch Run, MI 48415 • Drury Inn & Suites – Frankenmuth: 260 S Main St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734 • 85ten Boutique Hotel – Port Austin: A further drive, but perfect for a romantic post-wedding weekend (and a personal favorite of mine!) Airport Tips: • MBS International Airport (Midland/Bay City/Saginaw) – about 35 minutes away • Bishop International Airport (Flint) – just 20 minutes south Hosting a Wedding on or Around the Fourth of July? Here’s What to Know As a wedding venue owner, I’m often asked whether it’s a good idea to get married near a major holiday like the Fourth of July, Memorial Day Weekend, around Christmas and more. The answer? It depends on your unique wedding vision—but for the right couple, it can be absolutely magical. Pros: • Built-in excitement and festive holiday energy • Guests often already have the weekend off of work Considerations: • Vendors may book quickly—start early! • Hotel rates can be higher around holidays (Or require a 2-night stay) • Some friends and family will have other events to attend -BUT, my advice to our couples is that the ones who matter will be there for you. • Embracing 2025 Wedding Trends at Michigan Wedding Venues

As we step into the 2025 wedding season, couples are evolving, blending tradition with modern touches and personalized details to create personalized and memorable wedding experiences. For couples looking for the perfect Michigan wedding venues, this season offers a plethora of wedding trends that can enhance the charm of wedding venues. From sustainability to innovative entertainment, let’s explore how you can incorporate the top 2025 wedding trends into your DREAM Michigan barn wedding. 1. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Weddings Flowers: Bentley Florist. Photo: Angela's Angles Photography Environmental consciousness continues to influence wedding planning for couples and Michigan wedding venues in 2025. Couples are prioritizing sustainability by choosing eco-friendly options that drastically reduce their wedding's overall carbon footprint. How to Incorporate: • Local Sourcing:  Opt for locally sourced wedding flowers from locally owned businesses and farm-to-table catering services. Michigan’s rich agricultural landscape provides an abundance of fresh, seasonal produce and florals, supporting local farmers and locally owned businesses reducing emissions related to transportation.  • Eco-Friendly Décor:  Utilize reusable or biodegradable materials for decor and other purposes such as catering utensils. Consider bamboo plates instead of plastic, which is a huge problem in the wedding industry-single use plastics.  • Minimalist Invitations:  Embrace digital invitations and save the dates to minimize paper waste. We LOVE the trending TikTok save the dates! Modern Farmhouse Michigan Wedding Venue 2. Intimate and Personalized Celebrations There’s a growing trend towards smaller, more intimate weddings, aka micro-weddings-that focus on personal touches and guest experience. How to Incorporate: • Curated Guest Lists:  Keep the guest list under 100 to foster a warm, personal atmosphere. This allows for meaningful interactions with each guest versus rushed, informal ones.  • Personalized Details:  Infuse your personalities into the wedding through custom vows, choreographed dances, and personalized favors that reflect your love story. • Interactive Elements:  Incorporate activities like lawn games at cocktail hour or DIY stations, encouraging guests to engage and create lasting memories. Our couples love our corn-hole boards with MR. and MRS. bean bags! 3. Vibrant and Diverse Color Palettes Monette Co. Photography While classic will always be popular, 2025 sees couples experimenting with bold and diverse color schemes to make their weddings unique. How to Incorporate: • Rich Tones:  Integrate deep blues, emerald greens, or burgundy into your design and decor for a "dark and moody" aesthetic. These colors complement the natural wood and rustic elements of barn venues like Celestial Farms. Emily Ann Photography • Seasonal Shades:  Reflect the season with appropriate colors—think pastel florals for spring or warm oranges and reds for fall weddings. But keep in mind any color can work in any season when done right. • Mix and Match:  Don’t shy away from combining unexpected colors to create a unique and modern look, a detail that is unexpected and exciting! 4. Non-Traditional Wedding Attire Brides and grooms are moving beyond traditional attire, opting for outfits that express their individual styles and personalities to create a magical day. How to Incorporate: • Alternative Dresses:  Consider wedding dresses with color accents, unique fabrics, or shorter hemlines. Jumpsuits and two-piece dresses are also gaining popularity. • Customized Suits:  Grooms can experiment with different colors, patterns, and fabrics to showcase their unique personality. • Comfort First:  Prioritize comfort to fully enjoy your day. Select attire that allows freedom of movement, and consider the weather when making your decision- especially important in a rustic, outdoor setting like Celestial Farms. 5. Immersive Entertainment Experiences Bluewater Kings Band Entertainment is becoming more interactive and personalized for 2025 weddings aiming to create unforgettable experiences for your wedding guests. How to Incorporate: • Live Performances:  Hire local musicians or bands to provide live music either at your ceremony, cocktail hour or your even your entire reception. Bluewater Kings Band made a huge impression on one of our events last season. • Themed Photo Booths:  Set up a photo booth feature that reflects your theme or style, giving guests a fun activity and memorable keepsakes to take home. Rolling Flashback Photo Bus • Unique Send-Offs:  Plan an unconventional send-off, like a fireworks display or a sparkler grand exit- my personal fave, to conclude the evening in a unique and memorable way. 6. Innovative Catering Options Couples are exploring diverse culinary experiences in 2025, moving away from traditional plated and buffet dinner options How to Incorporate: • Food Stations:  Set up stations offering various menus or interactive experiences like build-your-own taco bars, allowing guests to have fun and customize their meals and experiences. • Local Beverages:  Feature Michigan craft beers, wines and spirits to give your wedding guests a taste of local flavors. 7. Advanced Technology Integration Technology is playing a significant role in today’s weddings, from the planning process to the wedding day. How to Incorporate: • Live Streaming:  Share your ceremony in real-time with guests who couldn’t be there in person-ensuring everyone feels included which we'd be happy to set up for you. • Drones for Photography:  Capture unique aerial shots of your Michigan wedding venue and your guests, providing a fresh and fun perspective on traditional wedding photos and videography. Malcolm Cottle Media • AI Planning Tools:  Utilize AI-driven apps like Chat-GPT to streamline planning, manage your guest list, and tasks like organizing seating arrangements efficiently. 8. • Stop Right There! Top 5 Wedding Planning Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them) When Searching for Wedding Venues Near ME

Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting—and sometimes the most overwhelming—chapters in your life. With Pinterest boards bursting with ideas and family and friends offering well-meaning but overwhelming amounts of advice, it’s easy to feel pulled in a hundred directions. But after hosting countless weddings here at Celestial Farms , our modern barn venue in Clio, Michigan, we’ve seen it all—and we’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and what couples often wish they had done differently from the start. Whether you’re just getting started on your venue search or you're already deep in the planning process, we want to help you avoid common pitfalls that can add unnecessary stress, cost, and even disappointment. So if you’ve recently searched for “wedding venues near me” and found your dream venue (or are still looking), stop right there-and read this first. Here are the top 5 mistakes couples make early on in the wedding planning process—and how you can sidestep them when searching for wedding venues near me. ⸻ 1. Inviting Too Many Guests It always starts with the best intentions: you want to include everyone you love and everyone you think would appreciate an invite. But before you know it, your intimate wedding has ballooned into a guest list that looks more like a class reunion (plus one)—and the costs are exponentially climbing. Why It’s a Mistake: More guests mean more of everything—more food and drinks, more tables, more linens, more centerpieces, more time, and definitely more money. But here’s the real issue: the larger the guest count, the harder it becomes to have a personal, meaningful and stress free wedding experience with your favorite guests. Couples often tell me about their wedding day when I mention I own a venue, and they always say they barely had a moment to sit down, let alone speak to everyone they invited. At Celestial Farms in Clio, Michigan and other wedding venues near me, we’ve seen firsthand how smaller, intentional guest lists lead to more connected and enjoyable celebrations. You actually get to hug and greet everyone, enjoy your dinner, create memories and dance the night away without feeling pulled in a thousand directions. Our Advice: Start your guest list with your must-haves—immediate family, closest friends—and build out from there. Think about why each person is on your guest list. If the answer is “because my mom said so” or “they invited me to theirs,” revisit your priorities immediately. This is your day, and it should feel like you. Not a crowd you’re hosting out of obligation. ⸻ 2. Not Hiring a Day-of Coordinator This is a big one-crucial to the entire process. At Celestial Farms , we include a day-of coordinator in every wedding package, to assure every couple that celebrates with us has a stress free and memorable wedding experience from start to finish—it’s the key to making your wedding day smooth and full of joy. But not every wedding venue includes this service, so some go without and skipping it can lead to major regret. Why It’s a Mistake: Imagine this: the florist can't find the venue, the DJ is setting up on the wrong side of the barn, your aunt keeps asking where to put the programs and she can't find the table numbers, and your phone is buzzing nonstop. Meanwhile, you’re trying to stay focused and soak in one of the biggest days of your life. Not ideal, right? Without a coordinator (that understands the venue perfectly) managing vendors, sticking to the timeline, and solving problems every 5 minutes before you even know they exist, all of that stress falls on you—or worse, your mom or best friend, who just wants to enjoy the day with you but now they are completely overwhelmed. Our Advice: If your wedding venue doesn’t include a day-of coordinator (like we do at Celestial Farms ), hire one immediately. It’s one of the most worthwhile investments you can make for your wedding. A great coordinator will manage all the behind-the-scenes chaos so you can be fully present, sipping mimosas in the bridal suite and dancing with your husband at the reception—not worrying about whether the vendors are on schedule or the sparkler exit gets properly managed for the perfect shot. We can’t emphasize this enough: your peace of mind is priceless. ⸻ 3. Overdecorating (or DIY Overload) Pinterest is both a blessing and a curse. Pinterest brain is what I like to call it. It ’s full of inspiration—but it often sets unrealistic expectations because these photos were carefully staged in the perfect weather at the perfect time of day, etc. and let's not forget we have AI affecting these things now. Many couples get caught up in the DIY whirlwind early on, thinking they’ll save a ton of money by making their own centerpieces or hand-lettering 100 name cards. Others fall into the trap of buying all the things months ahead of time… only to change their minds, buy too much and waste a lot of money. Why It’s a Mistake: At Celestial Farms , our space is designed to be naturally beautiful and photo-ready—meaning you don’t need much to bring the space to life. But time and time again, we see couples stress themselves (and their wallets) out by overdecorating, DIY-ing, or investing in tons of small details that either go unnoticed or don’t match by the time the big day rolls around. There’s also the problem of storing all these items and setting them up. Who’s setting up 25 candle holders fresh out the box and 18 signs that need screws and anchors the morning of your wedding? Who’s taking it all down at the end of the night and transporting it back home? Often, it ends up being family members who should be relaxing and celebrating with you or getting home and in bed as they are exhausted. Our Advice: Rent everything you can. Borrow from your wedding venue (we offer decor options for our couples). Focus on impactful pieces, quality over quantity. And don’t commit to a decor plan too early—you’ll evolve as your vision falls into place in due time. Trust us, you’ll be grateful you didn’t buy those 45 mason jars on sale six months in advance. ⸻ 4. Not Setting a Budget This one might seem obvious—but we see it and hear about it happening all the time. Couples start booking vendors and buying a ton of things before they sit down and map out a realistic wedding budget. Then the money runs out before the dress alterations and tux rentals are due, or the dream wedding photographer is no longer an option. Why It’s a Mistake: Without a budget, it’s easy to overspend early in the planning process and scramble later. It also leads to tough choices down the line—do we cut the dessert table we spent months thinking about or skimp on the DJ? Neither option feels good when you’re already committed to both. A clear budget will give you freedom, not restriction. It allows you to make confident decisions, prioritize what matters most to you and your partner, and avoid the sinking feeling of financial regret after the honeymoon which is a horrible way to start a marriage. Our Advice: Sit down early—before booking anyone—and determine your overall budget. Then break it into categories: venue, food, attire, décor, photography, entertainment, etc. Include a “just in case” cushion for last-minute surprises and wants. And most importantly be realistic. And don't forget to ask vendors for full pricing, including taxes and service fees, so there are no surprises. At Celestial Farms , we walk couples through their budget planning if they want or need us to and help them decide where to splurge and where to save. (Spoiler alert: peace of mind and great pics are always worth it.) ⸻ 5. Letting Others’ Opinions Dictate the Day This one might be the hardest for our couples—but it’s also the most important. You’re engaged. You’re excited. You announce your wedding plans—and suddenly, everyone in your entire life has an opinion. Your mom wants you to invite all her co-workers. Your second cousin thinks your guest list is too small. Your future in-laws don’t like the idea of an outdoor wedding ceremony. The list goes on, and on, and on... Why It’s a Mistake: Letting outside voices steer your choices will leave you feeling disappointed and disconnected from your own wedding. It can cause tension between family and most importantly you and your partner, it leads to regrets, and creates rifts when expectations aren’t met. You deserve a wedding day and a wedding planning experience that feels authentic to you. Not one that looks like someone else’s dream day. Our Advice: Take a deep breath. Center yourself. And remember this: it’s your day. You can listen to advice without following it in the end. You can say “thank you” and still go a different route. Set boundaries early in the wedding planning process, especially around big decisions like venue, guest list, and structure of the day. And if family dynamics are tricky, lean on your partner and your venue or day-of coordinator to help manage conversations and logistics. We often help our couples come up with ways to tell family and friends that the venue is responsible for this or that or we only allow this or that to take the pressure off of you. The couples who have the best overall wedding experience at Celestial Farms are the ones who stay true to themselves and each other. Their weddings are filled with love, intention, and happiness—not stress or second-guessing themselves. ⸻ Let us help you plan your perfect wedding day!
