1. Gatlinburg, Tennessee: A Cozy Cabin Escape

Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg is the perfect destination for couples seeking a romantic getaway surrounded by nature and stunning mountain views. My family loves to visit Gatlinburg and the Pigeon Forge area as it's filled with breathtaking views, cozy cabins and of course my favorite things, Mountain Coasters and Moonshine Tasting!

Activities: You can explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by foot, ATV, Jeep excursions, take a scenic tram ride, or visit the local distilleries for some moonshine tasting. My favorite activity has to be the Alpine Mountain Coaster. It's a beautiful activity to do during the day but also seems to be a whole new experience at night. And there are endless spots for a romantic dinner at one of the local restaurants offering stunning mountain views.

Planning Tips: For a cozy experience, consider renting a cabin with a hot tub and stunning mountain views. Book in advance, especially during peak seasons, to be sure you have many cabins to choose from, as they book fast!

2. Jamaica: Paradise on Earth

If you’re dreaming of white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, Jamaica is a great choice, and was my ten year anniversary destination. Kyle and I spent a week soaking up the sun, exploring the vibrant culture, and enjoying the delicious local Jamaican cuisine. We also took a guided ATV tour which was exciting if your an adventurist. One of our favorite dining spots was the clifftop Rick's Cafe in Negril, which had great vibes and exciting entertainment for the brave souls who cliff jumped into the waters below!

Activities: Relax on the beach, go snorkeling or scuba diving, and visit the famous Dunn's River Falls which is a great experience for all ages. The local music scene is always vibrant, so make sure to catch a reggae concert or visit a lively beach bar for a great time.

Planning Tips: Look for all-inclusive resorts that cater specifically to honeymooners such as Sandals, Negril which is where we stayed. They have a lot to offer for couples looking for a romantic experience. Book your excursions in advance so you don’t miss out on experiences like private boat rides or sunset dinners.

3. Cinque Terre, Italy: A Slice of Italian Romance

Now this one's a little farther out there but it's a once in a lifetime unique experience I'll cherish forever. Cinque Terre, with its colorful cliffside villages along the Italian Riviera, offers a romantic backdrop that feels like an absolute dream. Our visit was filled with scenic hikes, delicious food, and breathtaking views that looked like a post card. I had to pinch myself more than once. You won't believe your eyes with these views.

Activities: Hike between the charming villages, indulge in fresh seafood and amazing Italian dishes, and enjoy gelato by the seaside including the unexpectedly delicious basil gelato we tried and loved. Be sure to take a cooking class to learn how to make authentic Italian dishes together which is such a romantic experience. There is no activity that isn't worth trying here. It's all absolutely amazing.

Planning Tips: Travel during the shoulder seasons (late spring or early fall) to avoid large crowds and enjoy pleasant weather. Consider staying in a charming bed and breakfast versus a large hotel for a more intimate experience. Don’t forget to set aside time for leisurely strolls through the villages with no time crunch to worry about; it’s the best way to soak in the local atmosphere.

4. Paris, France: The City of Love

Paris is often referred to as the most romantic city in the world, and after my visit this past year I can personally agree with this statement. My time in Paris was magical, filled with iconic sights, delicious foods and pastries, and unforgettable moments with my loved ones. We were first stunned with the sight of the Eiffel tower and had to get a closer look the second we arrived. I never could've imagined myself going all the way to the top but once I got there I knew I just had to do it. I only stayed long enough for a quick pic, but I am so glad I did it. There are so many amazing places to visit while in Paris. Some of our choices were Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, Palace of Versailles, and ok guys, my absolute fave wasn't exactly the place that comes to mind when you think of romance, but the catacombs were a dream destination for me and it lived up to the hype. There wasn't enough time to do everything and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Activities: Visit the Eiffel Tower, stroll along the Seine, and explore the artistic treasures in the Louvre. Enjoy a picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens or dine at one of many quaint cafés. You can also take a boat cruise for a unique view of the city which is what we did, but unfortunately we were rained on for that one.

Planning Tips: Book your accommodations near the city center to minimize the travel time from destination to destination. Consider purchasing a Paris Pass for access to many popular attractions. Make dining reservations in advance, especially for popular restaurants. Don't get lost, be sure you understand your route so you don't waste time. Bring an umbrella!

5. London, England: A Blend of History and Modernity

London offers a captivating mix of history, culture, and exciting and fun city life. I loved exploring the rich heritage, from the Tower of London to the charming streets of Notting Hill, the experience was both romantic and exciting. I have to admit it was nice being able to understand the language. And made travel a bit easier. And who doesn't want to see where the King and Queen live? It was truly incredible to see in real life as you've seen these destinations on tv and your computer/phone screen your entire life.

Activities: Visit Buckingham Palace, take a ride on the iconic London Eye, and explore the eclectic markets like Borough Market or Camden Market for local cuisine. Enjoy a West End show for a fun night out.

Planning Tips: Use public transportation to navigate the city most efficiently. Look for London Pass options that offer discounts on attractions and tours you have on your list. Plan your itinerary to include both must-see sights and off-the-beaten-path experiences to discover the places that aren't always highlighted. Sometimes that's where you find your favorites.

6. Barcelona, Spain: A Vibrant Spanish Getaway

Barcelona is known for its stunning architecture, delicious food, and spicy atmosphere. My journey there was filled with tapas, art, and unforgettable sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea with the family. I was absolutely wowed with Gaudi architecture. I mean even the bathrooms in those buildings are breathtaking. The style is one of a kind and like nothing I've seen before. And the Sagrada? Wow! It doesn't seem real, it's like something out of a movie for sure. It's hard to appreciate the beauty of these things without seeing them in real life. Another once in a lifetime experience I'll treasure forever.

Activities: Explore Gaudí’s masterpieces like the Sagrada Familia, relax on the beach, and indulge in tapas at local restaurants. Stroll hand in hand through the historic Gothic Quarter and enjoy the bustling energy of La Rambla.

Planning Tips: Consider visiting during the off-peak seasons to enjoy smaller crowds and lower rates. Book tickets for popular attractions in advance to skip the lines and avoid any added stress while on vacation. Try to learn a few basic Spanish phrases; or if you're like me, translate with your phone, the locals appreciate it!

7. Florida: An Adult Disney Honeymoon

For couples who are young at heart, or want to stay in the U.S., Orlando Florida offers the magical experience of Disney World. An adult Disney honeymoon is an enchanting blend of nostalgia and romance, making it a truly unique experience when you don't have the littles with you. It's a completely different experience. Less lines, adult menus, ride all the rides your kids are too small for. An adult Disney trip isn't for everyone, but for some it can be the most romantic and special trip of their lives.

Activities: Explore your favorite parks, from the magic of Magic Kingdom to the thrill of Epcot. Enjoy fine dining at signature restaurants throughout the park and indulge in a romantic evening at Disney Springs. Consider taking advantage of special experiences that are easier to do without the kiddos like guided tours or dessert parties for fireworks viewing.

Planning Tips: Book accommodations on or near the Disney property for convenience. Make dining reservations WELL in advance, as popular restaurants fill up quickly sometimes a year in advance. Utilize the My Disney Experience app to manage your itinerary, dining, and FastPass selections which is a must.

Planning the Perfect Honeymoon: Key Tips

  1. Budget Wisely: Establish a budget you are both comfortable with that covers accommodations, travel, activities, and dining. Research and stick to your budget to avoid overspending-we don't want to start the marriage with financial stress!

  2. Set Priorities: Discuss with your partner the most important aspects for your honeymoon. Is it relaxation, adventure, cultural experiences, or all three? Setting priorities will help you plan accordingly and more importantly, be on the same page as your partner.

  3. Create a Flexible Itinerary: While it’s essential to have a plan, it's equally essential to leave room for spontaneity. Some of the best experiences come from unexpected opportunities-like the thrift shop I visited in Paris and found the most unique pieces of clothing that I cherish to this day.

  4. Travel Insurance: Consider purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind, especially if you plan on traveling internationally. It can cover unexpected events, including cancellations and unforeseen medical emergencies.

  5. Check Passports and Visas: If you’re traveling outside the U.S., ensure both of your passports are up to date and check if you need any visas to enter your destination.

  6. Capture the Memories: Document your honeymoon through photos, journaling, or even hiring a photographer for a session at your favorite destination. These memories will be cherished for a lifetime so go crazy, you can delete and filter later!
