Celestial Farms had the Honor of Witnessing Michelle and Tate's Beautiful May Wedding filled with Mexican and Filipino
Wedding Traditions
At Celestial Farms Wedding Venue in Clio, Michigan, one of the most rewarding parts of hosting weddings is helping our couples create their dream wedding that feels deeply personal and meaningful. Michelle and Tate’s wedding on May 25, 2025, was a shining example of how honoring and blending family traditions can turn a celebration into something truly unforgettable for every guest and our staff included.
Their wedding day at Celestial Farms was not just a union of two people—it was a vibrant celebration beautifully blending Filipino and Mexican heritage. The day was filled with so much joy, meaningful symbolism, and tons of love. We were honored to witness their two families come together weaving cultural elements and Mexican and Filipino wedding traditions throughout both the outdoor wedding ceremony and barn reception in ways that reflected their family values and their shared future together.

🌿 Ceremony Mexican and Filipino Wedding Traditions
Rooted in Heritage
Veil and Cord Ceremony
One of the most touching parts of Michelle and Tate’s wedding ceremony was the veil and cord tradition. A ceremonial lace veil and white cord were gently draped over their shoulders at the altar. In both Filipino and Mexican cultures, this tradition symbolizes unity, protection, and the couple’s commitment to walk through life together. It was truly beautiful to watch generations come together to place the veil and cord, linking the past with the promise of the bright future.
Exchange of Coins (Arras)
Next at the ceremony, Michelle and Tate exchanged 13 shimmering coins, a tradition common by both Mexican and Filipino cultures that represents prosperity, trust, and shared responsibility. As each coin changed hands, it carried the weight of generations before them—wisdom and hope, and the promise to care for each other in every season of life.

Unity Candle
The lighting of the unity candle is a tradition common in Filipino weddings. This beautiful moment represented the joining of two families and the creation of one new, radiant flame—symbolizing their new journey together as husband and wife.
At Celestial Farms, we believe every ceremony should feel sacred and tailored to your beliefs and traditions. We loved working with Michelle and Tate to make sure each element of their wedding ceremony had the space and time to be fully appreciated, creating a peaceful, intimate atmosphere on their wedding day.
🎉 A Reception Full of Life, Love, and Laughter
After the heartfelt, tradition filled wedding ceremony, the celebration took on a lively, joyful energy as Michelle and Tate honored family traditions through dance, music, and laughter at the reception-hosted by our talented and preferred DJ's at Forella Events.
Money Dance
This isn't the dollar dance, it's the money dance- a cherished tradition in both Mexican and Filipino wedding traditions. Their family and friends lined up with smiles and pinned money onto the couple’s attire while dancing—offering not only financial blessings but well-wishes, advice, and plenty of hugs. This tradition was not just festive, but deeply moving. You could feel the love in every step that day at Celestial Farms Wedding Venue.
La Vibora de La Mar (The Sea Snake Dance)
This was one of the most fun moments of the night! Michelle and Tate stood on chairs, hands joined to form an arch, as their wedding guests held hands and wove underneath them in a speeding, laughing, dancing snake. This lively Mexican wedding tradition brought the whole room to their feet—and left the whole barn echoing with laughter.
Nacho Libre Wrestling
Now this was a first at Celestial Farms—and along with every guest, we LOVED it! Inspired by Mexican pop culture and family fun, but not a widely recognized tradition, Michelle and Tate added a playful wrestling inspired moment reminiscent of “Nacho Libre.” Complete with masks and a lighthearted vibe, it had everyone at Celestial Farms- guests and staff- cheering, laughing, and reaching for their phones. It was such a fun and uniquely personal touch, one we’re sure their guests will never forget, I know our Celestial Farms staff will cherish that memory forever!
💫 A Truly Personal Celebration
What we loved most about Michelle and Tate’s unique and tradition filled wedding wasn’t just the cultural richness or the beautiful styling—it was how genuine every moment of the day felt. Each tradition was chosen and executed with care, each laugh was real, and each element reflected who they are as individuals, as a couple and as two families uniting as one.
