🐾 Frankenmuth Dog Bowl: A Unique Canine Celebration

Dubbed the world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs, the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl is a must-attend event in Michigan for dog lovers. Scheduled for May 24–25, of this year, this festival that has free admission for all ages, transforms the Frankenmuth River Place Shops into a canine paradise for dog lovers. Here are some of the activities that will take place:  

Event Highlights:

• DockDogs® and Disc Dog Competitions: Watch as these adorable dogs showcase their agility and athleticism in exciting water and frisbee events.

• Wiener Dog Races: Cheer on these adorable dachshunds as they race to the finish line. 

• Pet Costume Parade: Check out all the creativity and well thought out costumes as pets strut their stuff in the pet costume parade.

• Barn Hunt and Lure Course: You can engage your dog’s natural instincts in these interactive activities that are fun for everyone.

• Canine Cruise on the Bavarian Belle Riverboat: Enjoy a scenic boat ride with your furry best friend on Frankenmuth's Riverboat.

With over 25 activities, there’s something for every dog and dog lover of every age to enjoy. It's sure to be a fun filled Memorial Day weekend! The dog bowl event also emphasizes responsible pet ownership and supports various charitable causes. My personal favorite would be Paws With a Cause- custom trained dogs that assist people with disabilities. Through education and advocacy this organization increases awareness of the rights and roles of assistance dog teams.

🎈 Balloons Over Bavarian Inn: A Sky Full of Color

Running concurrently with the Dog Bowl, Balloons Over Bavarian Inn takes place from May 23–26, 2025 in Frankenmuth. This event features over 20 hot air balloons soaring above the city, offering breathtaking views and unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experiences.  

Schedule of Events:

• Morning Flights: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM (Saturday to Monday) 

• Evening Flights: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Friday to Sunday) 

• Nightly Balloon Glows: 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Friday to Sunday) 

The nightly balloon glows are a highlight to look forward to year after year, where tethered balloons light up the night sky, creating a magical feeling. You can interact with the balloon pilots and learn about the art of hot air ballooning.
