When you're a small business owner, and especially when you work in the wedding industry, it’s easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of wedding planning, and constantly prepping your venue for the next couple who is trusting you with one of the biggest days of their lives. But every once in a while, it’s important to step away from the scene—not to rest, but to grow. That’s exactly what I did when I joined a group of fellow locally owned wedding venue owners from across the country for a working vacation in Nashville, TN. And let me just say, Nashville wedding venues do not disappoint.

One of the highlights of my trip was without a doubt: A Room With a View at 1305 Clinton Street, Suite 320. This unique hidden gem is tucked inside the historic Marathon Village and offers more than just a pretty space for weddings. It offers an entire experience. The venue itself is stunning with it's old world charm, but what made it unforgettable was the story of it's beginning, the owner aka daughter of the man who started the business many years ago, the history—and, okay fine, the Jack Daniel’s tasting didn’t hurt either.

Let’s dive into what makes one of my favorite Nashville wedding venues so special, what I learned from the other owners on this working vacation, and why I walked away inspired, energized, and even more in love with this crazy wedding world I now live in.

Stepping Into History at 1305 Clinton Street

From the moment our bus pulled up to A Room With a View, I felt like I had traveled through time. The wedding venue sits on the third floor of the old Marathon Motor Works building—a factory that once produced some of America’s first cars (some on display) in the early 1900s. The character of the space is undeniable: original hardwood floors, exposed brick walls with beautiful patterns and detail, iron beams, massive windows, and charming views.

You can tell that this event space isn't trying to look rustic—it’s authentically industrial and elegantly rustic. The entire vibe screams history-meets-modern-glam, and it would be a dream wedding experience for any couple looking at Nashville wedding venues that are wanting that “chic downtown meets vintage grit” aesthetic that Nashville has become famous for. I too strive for not just a beautiful wedding backdrop but an authentic wedding experience at our venue- Celestial Farms in Clio, Michigan. So I really connected with this one.

A Multi-Business Powerhouse

One of the things I loved most about this Nashville, Tennessee venue is that it’s not just a venue. A Room With a View is actually home to five different businesses on the property. That synergy creates an old world community vibe that’s rare in the wedding world. At A Room With A View, you don’t feel like you’re walking into a sterile, one-size-fits-all rental space—you feel like you’re entering someone’s creative playground- and you are! I especially loved hearing the owner talk about how her father was quite the bachelor in his days, and frequently hosted parties in the space that's now a wedding venue. And as a venue owner who's event space has family history, that hit me in all the feels. Every inch of the building feels intentional and authentic.

The Jack Daniel’s Experience (aka one of my favorite activities from this trip)

Okay, let’s talk about the Jack Daniel’s tasting experience because… wow! It was the single most fun and interactive experience on the entire tour of Nashville wedding venues. Set inside the property itself, just across the street from the event space, this experience combined storytelling, sipping, and a whole lot of laughs. It reminded me of the moonshine tasting in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge which is one of my favorite vacation destinations.

For engaged couples either local to TN or those searching for a unique destination wedding location, this is the kind of touch that transforms a great celebration into an unforgettable one. It’s one thing to have a signature drink—it’s another to give your guests an actual Jack Daniels tasting tour right inside your wedding venue. Who else can say they got a whiskey tasting experience on their wedding day?

That, my friends, is what sets A Room With a View apart from other Nashville wedding venues and wedding venues across the nation. It’s not just about beautiful photos—it’s about creating fun and beautiful memories.

Learning from the Best in the Business

As much as I loved touring the venue itself, the real gold of this trip came from the conversations and education I had with fellow venue owners. This was a group of smart, passionate, driven locally owned wedding venue friends from across the U.S. who are all doing incredible things in their own hometowns. We shared ideas, traded tips and advice, talked through our pain points, and celebrated the wins that only other wedding venue owners truly understand.

There’s definitely something powerful about being in a room with people who “get it.” People who know what it’s like to work under pressure- 18 hour work days, rewrite timelines on the fly, hold the hand of a nervous bride, or fix a wardrobe malfunction pre-ceremony while pretending you’re not panicking inside.

The first night of the trip, someone said, “You can’t pour into others if your cup is empty,” and it hit me hard. That’s what this trip was: a refilling of my cup. My first solo trip of my entire life and I got to experience it surrounded by other proud but humble wedding venue owners

Inspiration Around Every Corner

Walking through A Room With a View gave me dozens of ideas I want to bring back to my own venue. Each and every space felt effortless but elevated. But it wasn’t just about unique design. It was about the history you feel in that space. You feel welcomed and "part of the family". You felt humbled and inspired. Every little detail—from the staircase leading to the event space to the signage and branding—was curated to make guests feel special. That’s something you can’t fake. The IT factor- It’s either in the DNA of the business, or it’s not. And here? It absolutely is.

Why Nashville Wedding Venues Like This One Stand Out

I’ve visited plenty of venues, but Nashville wedding venues have a magic all their own. There’s something about the energy in this city—part Southern hospitality, part creative grit—that makes every space feel like it has a soul. At A Room With a View, that soul shines bright.

The location alone—right in Marathon Village—is enough to draw in couples looking for something truly one-of-a-kind. The surrounding area is filled with artisan shops, breweries, a distillery, and so much interesting history. It feels both urban and intimate. And if you’re someone who values charm and character over cookie-cutter ballrooms like me, this spot is your dream.

Bringing It All Back Home

As I flew back to Michigan and returned to Celestial Farms, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. Being in Nashville reminded me that wedding venues are more than just four walls. They’re storytelling spaces. They’re the backdrops to some of life’s most important moments. And when you do it right—when you combine beautiful aesthetics with exceptional service—you create something lasting.

I want to thank A Room With a View for opening your doors to this wedding venue owner from Michigan. And thank you to all of the owners, their teams, and every venue boss I met on this trip. And especially Didi Russell -wedding nerd, our leader, our wedding expert, you lit a spark in me, filled my cup, and I'm bringing that renewed energy back to every bride, groom, and wedding guest who walks through my barn doors at Celestial Farms.
